What CapeTrainX is, what it proposes and what remains undecided.
Is CapeTrainX an operating rail service?
No. CapeTrainX is a proposed express rail concept. It is not an operating passenger service.
Has the network been approved or funded?
No approval or funding is claimed. The project is at concept stage. Feasibility has not been completed, procurement and construction have not started, and no opening date is offered.
Are the routes and stations final?
No. Referenced corridors and interchange areas are illustrative. Any alignment or site would require feasibility work, engagement, environmental processes, approvals and funding.
Does the concept include airport rail connectivity?
Yes. Airport rail connectivity is proposed for investigation as part of a wider multimodal network, but no route or service is confirmed.
How would CapeTrainX relate to existing transport?
The concept is intended to complement existing rail, bus, minibus taxi, walking and cycling networks. Integration arrangements would need institutional and operational work.
